Britney Spears Does New Orleans

Sometimes things just go from bad to worse.  First, a major hurricane upends your life, and then Britney Spears stops by for a visit.

It could be that I’m just jealous.  It wasn’t until this morning that I realized that had missed Mardi Gras completely.  I found out that today was the start of Lent, which means I forgot the party and kept the privation.  It’s a good thing I’m not Catholic, or I’d be seriously depressed.

Britney decided to get the party started for a group of teens in the New Orleans area who were hit hard by the storm.  It isn’t surprising that a celebrity is doing something to brighten the lives of people affected by the storm.  What surprised me is that a 14-year-old not only knew who Britney was, she was quoted as saying, “It was awesome. I will never forget it.”

Don’t get me wrong, every person in the free world knows who Britney is, but I thought most 14 year olds had moved on to bigger talents, like Jesse McCartney and Raven.  Britney jumped the shark when this girl was mastering long division.  Nevertheless, Britney is a Louisiana native and that counts for a lot.

Not to mention that Britney took a group of them shopping.  As A Socialite’s Life pointed out, it’s a good thing Britney didn’t pick out the clothes.  If she had, Mr. Blackwell might have to lengthen his list.

Yea, I’m jealous.  I’ll admit it.  But then again, nothing bad happened to me last fall.  But still, I’d like to have gotten the consolation prize.  Maybe K-Fed could stop by and we’d just chill.  We could drink 40s and bust some rhymes. Hmm, then again, maybe I’m glad it’s Lent.
